Personal Research Journey

For our class simulation I would like to focus on toxic stress. I would like to see if a child who is exposed to toxic stress multiple times is able to be more resilient than a child who has never been exposed or only exposed few times to toxic stress. There are a few reasons why I would like to learn more about this topic. One is due to my experience working for the state of New Hampshire as a social worker; I worked with many children who lived in toxic environments and had a lot of exposure to toxic stress. Another reason I have an interest in this topic is because of my niece. My niece's first six years of life she grew up in a toxic environment until she was removed. The difference I saw in her over a six week span when she was placed in a more positive environment was amazing. She went from having head and stomach aches to being an active and happy little girl. As I begin my journey to researching more about toxic stress and resilience I would love to see if anyone has any I sight or resources they would like to share.
Thank you,
Alysse

  1. This is a great topic and I will be following up on your research to see all the information you've found. I'm glad that your niece was removed form her situation and became a happy little girl. My husband works for the state as a social worker as well and its heart breaking to hear and see kids go through half of the thugs they go through. Happy researching
