If I could pick any topic that is not confined by the reality of the present than I would do something relating to child abuse and neglect. I think what I would look into more in depth is what are the triggers for abuse and is there any way to prevent abuse and neglect of children? The positive contribution a study like this would contribute to society is lowering the rate of at risk children. It is unreal to me the amount of abuse that happen daily just in the United States. If there is research that can help protect a child in any way that is what I would look into closer.
How would you design your research? Would you collect data on adults that had already been convicted of abuse and then see if there where commonalities in their behaviors or lifestyles? One resource that you might find useful when exploring is the Children’s Defense Fund http://www.childrensdefense.org/ if you haven’t already discovered this resource it has all the latest data on child abuse issues. I think we all can agree ending abuse would be a fantastic accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteHi Alysse, great topic! Child abuse and neglected children need the most help because of the damage of development throughout the years. This research topic can definitely help children in the future from dealing with the same situation.
