NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
I-2.2—To develop relationships of mutual trust and create partnerships with the families we serve.
- · I feel it is important to have strong relationships with families. To me this helps to support a child’s growth by making education a partnership
I-3C.1—To promote safe and healthy working conditions and policies that
foster mutual respect, cooperation, collaboration, competence, well-being,
confidentiality, and self-esteem in staff members.
- · I feel it is important to have staff feel safe and supported in their working environment
1-4.1—To provide the community with high-quality early childhood care and education programs and services.
- · I feel it is important to provide the community not just access to early childhood care but to quality early childhood care to make sure the children of the community are supported in their early development.
DEC Code of Ethics
4. We shall serve as advocates for children with disabilities and their
families and for the professionals who serve them by supporting both policy and
programmatic decisions that enhance the quality of their lives.
- · This is really important to me because I have seen school systems not provide the care a child with disabilities needs and I feel it is important as professionals to advocate for these children and families because the parents are not always going to know if a school or policy is not doing the best for their child.
I believe Ideal I-4.1 is one of my greatest passions in EC. It's not enough to just start a child care program, we must work to create quality programs that provide our children with the tools they need to succeed. Anyone can stick a sign outside and call it a daycare but a true EC advocate will not set up our children for disaster.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Alysse. I think that the partnerships with families is crucial. We must involve the parents of our students and motivate them to be involved in their child's education. It is also important to make sure all of the children we serve are treated with the same respect and that we work together to help the students succeed. Great post.
ReplyDeleteHi Alysse,
ReplyDeleteI also agree that providing the community a high quality childcare is extremely important! I grew up in a very close knit community and every child care facility was a major part of the community. Families and teachers had strong connections and worked together to raise the children. I aim to provide the same type of high quality childcare in my community and work closely with the children's families.
Alysse, I want to thank you for the resources and feedback you have provided throughout the course. I admire your accomplishments and getting to know you in the professional EC program. This course has educated and motivated me tremendously. I have read and learned from all of my colleagues in this course. Best wishes to you in life and I hope you fulfill all of your dreams and goals!!!
